The Help

What more can be said about this book, that the myriad of positive critiques Stockett has already received. This book has a touching story that will leave readers (including me) a little misty-eyed.

Often times we choose to forget aspects of the past that may paint us as unflattering, or focus on the historical aspects that many of us have learned in gradeschool. Stockett's work reminds many of the face that racism has, and humanity that we all share.

Perfect for bookclubs.

Role Models

Everyone has someone they look up to. For some it is a sports athlete for others a celebrity or politician, for me its John Waters

Waters has created yet another masterpiece for the written word in his book Role Models. In it, he discusses artists and individuals that have made an impression on him over the years. Some are sweet, suchas his affection for Tennessee Williams; while others are simply strange. It took me relatively no time to finish 90% percent of this book. I still have some chapters or parts of chapters to get through. Secretly, I don't want to finish it because I know i'll have nothing to read, but I'm sure I'll find something else.
